What is door casing?
Door casing is the trim around the opening, covering the joint between the door frame and the wall. Window casing finishes the corresponding joint around a window.
How is casing different from a door jamb?
Casing sits on the face of the wall around the opening. The jamb forms the side of the frame. If you need to extend the frame to the finished wall surface, compare the flat and V-groove extensions below.
How do I match existing door trim?
Bring an offcut or a clear end-view photograph and measure its face width and thickness. A profile name alone is not enough: Cranco’s catalogue lists Colonial casing in several sizes.
Is this MDF or pine casing?
This page lists pine casing. MDF casing has its own page and ordering notes. Use the MDF link below if you are matching MDF trim.
