How warm should Supra Expert be before use?
Check the sealant temperature before you load the gun.
Mulco says Supra Expert itself must be above 5°C to apply easily. The sheet lists a product temperature range of 5–30°C during application, so get the sealant above the lower limit while staying within that range. Check the cartridge separately from the joint surface: Mulco allows surface temperatures of -30–40°C.
Cartridges left in a cold truck?
Mulco specifies storage at 10–30°C. Plan to keep your cartridges within that range before the job. A cold surface may fall within the application limits while the sealant you're carrying is still too cold to apply easily.
The supplied sheet doesn't give a warming time, a heating method or a way to measure the sealant temperature inside a cartridge. If cartridges have been left in the cold, ask Mulco for conditioning instructions rather than assuming a few minutes indoors will be enough.
Check the surface as well
Before you start, check both temperatures against their own limits: product 5–30°C, with the sealant above 5°C for easy application, and surface -30–40°C. Don't use the outdoor air reading as your only check.
Supra Expert is for exterior use only. Mulco describes its intended use as outdoor joints between perpendicular surfaces around door and window frames, siding and glass in window frames. A temperature within range doesn't settle whether it fits your joint.
What the cold-weather ratings don't tell you
The -40–50°C service range describes service conditions, not the temperature at which you should gun the sealant. The sheet also reports a low-temperature flexibility test pass at -30°C. Neither replaces the product temperature limits during application.
Be careful about how you warm cartridges: Mulco lists Supra Expert as flammable during application. The supplied sheet gives no approved heating procedure.
