Tremsil 200 vs Tremsil 600: which one for the job
Both are one-part Tremco silicones rated to 25% movement, and Cranco carries both.
Tremsil 200 is an acetoxy silicone and Tremsil 600 is a neutral-cure silicone, which is what decides where each one belongs.
Which to take
Take Tremsil 200 for wet rooms. Tremco lists kitchens, bathrooms and spas, and its published service range runs from -40 to 100 degrees Celsius.
Take Tremsil 600 for glazing and for the substrates acetoxy silicone does not suit. Its list adds wood, brick, concrete, rigid PVC and stainless steel, and Tremco lists it for in-plant glazing: back-bedding, cap, heel and toe beads and sash joinery.
The reason is the cure. Tremsil 200's own sheet warns not to use it on surfaces sensitive to corrosion by acetic acid vapors, a by-product of the cure, which is why it does not go on concrete, brick or the metals Tremsil 600's substrate list adds.
Tremsil 600 skins in 40 minutes at 75 °F and 50% relative humidity, and Tremsil 200 in 20. Tremco gives Tremsil 600 8 to 10 minutes of tooling time, which is the window to shape the bead after it goes on, and it is tack free inside 2 hours. Tremsil 200 comes in the 300 mL cartridge only; Tremsil 600 adds a 600 mL sausage and a 17 L pail.
