How to store Tremflex 834 without freezing

Check the storage space before you leave cartridges there overnight.

Above 0°C isn’t enough for Tremflex 834 acrylic latex sealant. Tremco calls for storage at 5°C to 43°C, with the sealant in its original, undamaged packaging somewhere clean, dry and protected. Don’t let it freeze.

Storing a different acrylic sealant? Read its own data sheet before you pick a storage spot. The limits here are for Tremflex 834.

Before leaving cartridges in a truck or site trailer

Check how cold the space gets overnight, not just the temperature when you unload. You need it to stay within 5°C to 43°C until you use the sealant. Can’t confirm that? Arrange somewhere that stays within the range before delivery.

Keep the cartridges in their original packaging and check it for damage. You’ll need a clean, dry spot where they’re protected. Using a heated trailer? Check the storage temperature there too, because the heater setting alone won’t tell you whether it’s right.

Already left outside overnight?

If you think cartridges have frozen, put them aside. Before you use them, ask Tremco what to do and have these details ready: product name, lot information, estimated lowest temperature and how long they were exposed.

The supplied Tremflex 834 sheet says to prevent freezing, but gives no thawing procedure or acceptance test for frozen material. It doesn’t establish that a thawed cartridge is suitable for use. Don’t treat warming it indoors or squeezing out a bead as manufacturer clearance.

Warm storage doesn’t settle the application check

Before applying the sealant, check the joint surfaces too. Tremco recommends surface temperatures of at least 5°C at application and requires sound, clean, dry surfaces. For application below 5°C, the sheet directs you to Tremco’s separate cold-weather guide.

Keep the two checks separate: where the cartridges were stored, and the surfaces you’ll seal. Review the [Tremflex 834 product details](/tremflex-834/) when planning the order. If cold exposure is the concern, get Tremco’s direction on that material before putting it into the joint.
